Portable Station / NEMA 14-XX Supply Current Detection?

I'm thinking about buying the Advanced Series - 40A Portable Station, but I was wondering how it behaves when connected to various sized circuits.

Do I need to manually set the max current when connecting to a a smaller circuit (e.g. a 30A NEMA 14-30 outlet) or does the OpenEVSE have some way of detecting the amount of current available?

The Portable Station broadcasts OpenEVSE_XXXX for inital setup only, please note the values of xxxx. Once you choose your home network and enter the password, your station will  join your home network and the Setup portal will only show up if the station can not connect.

To access your station after inital setup enter http://openevse_xxxx.local in a  web browser of any device also connected to your home network. If you did not not the value of xxxx you will need to find the address in your router or by using a tool like Angry IP scanner.

How do you connect to the Portable Station via WIFI? Theres no buttons or LCD and its not broadcasting any AP like "OpenEVSE_xxx"?

There is no way to automatically detect the capability of the circuit, communicating power availability to the vehicle is one of the primary functions of the charging station.

You will need to adjust the current manually via the WiFi web interface whenever you connect to a new circuit.
