OpenEVSE WiFi Kit in Aluminum Case?

Has anyone done any testing with the WiFi kit inside the old aluminum case? I'm guessing the attenuation is noticeable, considering the enclosure and antenna.

I don't know if I'd want to run the power & I2C wires through one of the AC connections at the bottom. I'd be interested in suggestions if moving the module outside the case is necessary.

Thanks!

How about this waterproof 4 wire set?

Fortunately for me the access point and module are close enough to connect. So externalizing the WiFi module using the 4-wire set is my backup plan. It's a few dBm (~4) above the noise floor so the signal isn't great but it works for the moment.
