Expiring charge profile - failsafe back to a 6 A or off charge state if automations fail

I'm looking at ditching my Wallbox charging and moving to OpenEVSE, but before I do that I'm looking to improve safety whilst solar charging and overnight during free power charging whereby I vary the charger rate to avoid over drawing the house main 63A circuit breaker - NZ 230V.

The failures that I'm looking to avoid are:

Node-RED failure

Home Assistant failure

Wi-Fi failure

Today, I'm driving the Wallbox using OCPP 1.6J with a TX Profile that expires that I re send to the charger with the charging rate I require and a TxDefaultProfile that does not expire with a maximum charge rate of 6 Amps that sits underneath. In this way, if something goes wrong, the TxProfile expires and the charger falls back to a safe low charge rate of 6 Amps. Not that Home Assistant crashes or Node-RED or Wi-Fi goes off, I'm just designing properly for "what if".

I guess I could just buy OpenEVSE and drive it using OCPP but I am hoping for a more efficient and lightweight solution like MQTT etc that OpenEVSE supports. I'm also looking forward to privacy and not sending any telemetry to a cloud provider and no possibility of a remote cloud hack.

Thoughts anyone?

Pretty easy to do with HTTP, MQTT or the Home Assistant integration. Local only, no cloud.

Sure, local only, no cloud, but what about the concept of a safety profile so if Home Assistant or Wi-Fi go offline the charger doesn't just remain charging at a high current and thereby overdraw the house or import power during solar charging?

Load shaper is a safety feature, if data is lost the station fails safe.

Nice!

That's the answer. I see I can feed it my power meter because in my case the main switchboard with a power meter that reports to Home Assistant is in the main house a long way away from the detached garage and for Wallbox that is a big problem, it needs a locally wired meter and I just can't do that.

Thanks for your help - OpenEVSE can clearly do what I want.
