Current jumps to maximum

Hi All, is there a way to make the charge current stay at the manually chosen level ? It seems to always jump to max.

Thanks,

If you wish to charga at 24A for example, set the max current at the value you wish the station to default to.

Settings (Gear Icon)

EVSE

Max current

Set to 24A

This value is written to EEPROM and will survive power outages. Your station will always default to this value.

Yes that's clear but is there a way to get it to stay put until changed by me ?

I.e. the max current would be a maximum rather than a default.

Yes, set the Settings - EVSE - Max current - Maximum (same thing as default current) that is the setting that is written to memory and will stay put until the next time you change it. Automated features like divert, eco mode, etc. will not exceed this.

If you want to burn in an absolute maximum for the station hardware that can only be set once and no setting even yours will ever be allowed to exceed. Example you hardware has a 40A cable send the RAPI command $SC 40 M. This is a one time command, values above 40A will no longer be visible in menu.

I might actually do that as I do only have 32A cabling but what I really wanted is to change the current with the slider and have it stay there, not default to max current for the next session. Is that possible ?

I tried to set the hard maximum with the $SC32M but it comes back with "rapi response blocked"

If you want to change the value with the slider and have it stay. Click the Gear icon Pick the EVSE option and set the current there. It will be written to memory and stay there until the end of time.

This write once command has to be done with a USB serial adapter or Wi-Fi firmware 4.x. most RAPI commands are blocked in 5.x firmware as they can interfere or override the scheduler.

It's not that I want the current set till the end of time, I want to set the current with the slider and have the current stay exactly where I left it.... until I change it.

Having to go into settings is not so user-friendly and more of a pain to do "on the fly".

No big deal, I was just wondering if it could be set to not default to max.

The one-off max setting Rapi command is another story and something which I would like to do; can I roll back the FW to a 4.x version via wifi to do this ?

The Setting in EVSE page is both the Maximum and the Default. We use the term interchangeably. It is what is saved to memory. Changing the setting on the front page via a Manual Override is temporary and not written to memory. Powering off and on the station will go back to the Maximum - Default not the Manual Override. The Maximum is generally set to the maximum capability of the station/circuit and never changed. The front page Manual override is generally used for day to day modifications.

The automates features such as Eco and current shaper will use values between 6A and whatever you have set in EVSE Maximum.

Yes, you could load a 4.x version on your WiFi controller to run the on-time absolute maximum command then load 5.x back. Your slider will not go above the value you send any longer.
