Program to check the serial communication

Hi,

is there a program to run a check on the serial communication instead of individual commands (in PuTTY - ie -$GV  .... etc) which will give a result  serial communication  OK or Failed?

A command and response in PuTTY is enough to prove serial is communicating correctly. 


If you enter $SC 40 and Receive OK, possibly with other characters such as ^xx the command was received and processes.


If you enter something random and receive NK (Not Okay), the command was received but not valid
