The Tata Nexon EV, according to their website has a 3.3kW on-board charger for AC charging as standard (Jet edition has a 7kW on-board charger for AC), and has a CCS Type 2 connector.
That implies that it should respect the standard Type 2 charging protocols, which are the same ones that OpenEVSE can do.

No, it won't reduce the battery life, or at least, I've never heard that slower rates of charging will reduce the battery life, for some vehicles, I've heard the opposite advice, that successive DC rapid charging is not good for some vehicles that don't manage the battery pack temperature. It might be the case that the vehicle isn't very efficient at charging at low current. The Tata Nexon has a liquid cooled battery back, so you shoudln't need to worry about that.

Am having a off-grid solar system with 3kVA victron inverter. Tata Nexon EV model available in India comes only with fixed 3.3kW charging station. I wanted to try Open EVSE to dynamically modify charging current based on solar generation and home load.
I couldn't get confirmation from Tata team, if Open EVSE charging station could be used with Tata Nexon EV.
I have few queries to do the above setup.
My goal is to fully power EV only with solar, without using grid.
Our solar solution could generate 20kW per week more than our need, which I could divert to charging car.
