You could try this IR sensor, years ago a few guys were playing with this and firmware was added. We have not tried it lately so are not 100% sure it will still work.

I've been thinking about this. It would be useful in many circumstances to monitor the temperature of whatever's supplying the EVSE, but extending the i2c bus out to a hardwired sensor might not be practical.
It seems to me that it would be useful if OpenEVSE could accept a hardware-agnostic temperature reading over MQTT, in the way that it already does for supply voltage.
Another approach, which could work well for portable applications (particularly if adaptors are used for different outlets), would be to use the Bluetooth capability of the ESP32 to read the temperature from a small battery-powered sensor.

can you offer a remote temperature sensor? I would like to add one onto either my power terminals or clip it onto one of the power wires.
